The maiden Seguros Bolivar Tennis Champions event in 2010 was the Tour’s first visit to Colombia, and only the second event staged in South America. The Pueblo Viejo Country Club where the tournament was held lies in centre of Bogota, and the Club’s 5000 seater stadium had already hosted some of the world’s top tennis players at the ATP Challenger event that is staged there each February.

Bogota is the capital city of Colombia, as well as the most populous city in the country, with an estimated population of more than 7 million. Located in a high plateau in the Andes Mountain Range, Bogota’s altitude of 2,640 meters makes it the third-highest capital city in the world, after La Paz and Quito. With its many universities and libraries, Bogota has become known as "The Athens of South America" and in 2008, the World Cities Study Group and Network (GaWC) included the city in a list of World Cities ranked by their economical, political and cultural developments. Bogota is ranked as a World City in the same category as other global metropolitan areas such as San Francisco, Washington, Los Angeles, Dubai and Berlin, and above others such as Philadelphia, Boston, Lima or Montreal.

Sharing borders with Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Panama, and with a Spanish colonial background, Colombia is a hugely multicultural country. The mix of cultural influences is reflected in the country’s varied cuisine, festivals and architecture and as a result, Colombia, and Bogota in particular, has built up a large tourism industry.

Announced players for 2011: Mark Philippoussis, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Carlos Moya, Thomas Enqvist, Thomas Muster, Younes El Aynaoui, Mauricio Hadad and Mario Rincon.
