As one of the most thriving beachfront communities in the United States tennis capital of Florida, the beautiful town of Delray Beach is known by the locals as 'the village by the sea'.
Along its two miles of unbroken public beachfront, as the name suggests, Delray Beach is perhaps most famous for having some of the best beaches in the United States, attracting beach-goers from near and far to its stunning Atlantic coastline.
The 8,200 seater Delray Beach Tennis Stadium has hosted a successful ATP World Tour event for more than a decade, boasting an illustrious list of past champions including Lleyton Hewitt, Todd Martin and Tommy Haas. In 2010 the event will step up a gear however, hosting the world’s first nine-day 'Super Event' featuring tennis legends past and present from the ATP World Tour and ATP Champions Tour.
During the nine days of the combined ATP World Tour and ATP Champions Tour event, Delray Beach hold more than 20 parties, as well as nightly concerts held on site at the Tennis Centre, making it one of the most vibrant and culturally rich events in tennis. The event even boasts the unique ‘VolleyGirls', a team of ambassadors and spokespeople for the tournament, spreading the Delray Beach cheer to all who visit. Since the VolleyGirl campaign was started in 2007, the team of eight talented, witty and beautiful girls have become iconic representations of the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships, and one of the star attractions at the annual event.
Announced Players for 2010: John McEnroe, Pat Cash, Mats Wilander, Aaron Krickstein, Pat Rafter, Ronald Agenor, Johan Kriek and Andres Gomez.
