Rafter v. Ivanisevic

Rafter vs. Ivanisevic Re-match Confirmed In London

Pat Rafter and Goran Ivanisevic will reprise their famous 2001 Wimbledon final meeting at the AEGON Masters Tennis after the draw was made for the event which takes place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, 1-6 December.

The pair, whose five-set classic final was played on the third Monday and is widely regarded as one of the most emotional, pulsating Grand Slam finals history, will meet in their last round-robin group match on Saturday 5th December.

Ivanisevic and Rafter were drawn together in Group A with defending champion Cedric Pioline and the 1987 Wimbledon champion, Pat Cash. In Group B, two-time Wimbledon champion Stefan Edberg will take on the 2003 Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis, the 1997 US Open runner-up Greg Rusedski and debutant Younes El Aynaoui.

The tournament’s round-robin format means that all players will play at least three matches each. The top two players in each group after all matches are played will meet in Sunday's final. Each day of the tournament, except the final Sunday, features two sessions - an afternoon session starting at 1pm and an evening session starting at 7.30pm. All sessions will feature a combination of singles and doubles matches. View the schedule of play (please note that the schedule is subject to change at any time).

Also at the tournament, multiple Wimbledon doubles champions Mark Woodforde and Peter Fleming will join an all-star doubles field which features the ever-popular Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami and, for the first time at the Royal Albert Hall, the Jensen Brothers, Luke and Murphy.

Completing the cast will be former British No.1 Jeremy Bates, the 1986 French Open finalist Mikael Pernfors and former Wimbledon doubles champion Peter McNamara.

The event is the final tournament in 2009 on the ATP Champions Tour - a circuit of former World Number One tennis players, Grand Slam singles finalists and Davis Cup winners. Each event can also invite two wild cards of their choice.
