Greg Rusedski
Greg is a former US Open finalist, best known for his big serve and serve-and-volley style of play.
After turning professional in 1991, Rusedski's first career singles title came two years later at the Hall of Fame Championship in Newport, Rhode Island.
Rusedski’s best year on Tour was 1997. That year, not only did he reach the singles final of the U.S. Open, where he lost to Pat Rafter in four sets, but shortly thereafter he reached his career high ranking of World Number Four. For his efforts in New York, and at Wimbledon where he reached a career-best quarter final, he was awarded the title of BBC Sports Personality of The Year.
Besides reaching the US Open final, Greg is possibly best known for his booming serve, and for, at one time, holding the record for the fastest serve ever recorded, at 149mph.
On 7 April 2007, Rusedski officially retired from tennis after partnering Jamie Murray to a doubles victory over the Netherlands in a Davis Cup match, a result which gave Great Britain a 3–0 lead in the tie.
In addition to working with the LTA, nurturing young tennis talent, Greg also works as a commentator for several British television broadcasters. In 2007, he also appeared in the ITV series, Dancing on Ice.
