Brasilia to host ATP Champions Tour in October

September 15, 2022

Brasília   Champions,   an   ATP   Champions   Tour   event,   will   be held from 7-9th October 2022 at the Arena BRB featuring tennis legends like David Ferrer, Tommy Haas, David Nalbandian and Fernando Gonzalez.

It is the first time the ATP Champions Tour returns to Brazil for over a decade. The level of world-class tennis will give tennis fans in Brasilia an incredible spectacle and the chance to support former favourites in a beautiful location. The addition of Brasilia compliments the worldwide nature of the tour, which has already delighted fans in Delray Beach, London and Pula this year.

The lineup of Brasilia Champions features players who were Grand Slam Finalists and formerly ranked within the top 5 on ATP Tour rankings. The entry list includes former world No.3 and French Open Finalist David Ferrer, former world No.2 Tommy Haas, Wimbledon Finalist David Nalbandian and Australian Open Finalist and three-time Olympic medallist Fernando Gonzalez.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing in Brazil and I’m looking forward to visiting Brasilia. One of the last titles of my career was at Rio Open in 2015. So I hope to have a good tournament at this stage of the ATP Champions Tour”, said the spaniard David Ferrer.

Tommy Haas added “It will be great to be in Brasilia for the ATP Champions Tour and play alongside my friends like André Sá. My last time in Brazil was in 2014, at Brasil Open in São Paulo. I was very supported by the fans and I believe that it will not be different this time”.

Brazilians André Sá and Rogério Dutra Silva will also feature in the line up, hoping to be crowned champions by the end of the weekend.  The event will have two teams with three players in each. Two singles and one doubles match will be played each day and the team with most points will win.
